Landscape Dripline
Dripline tube comes in 25, 50 and 100 metre rolls. It is brown and looks just like a thin-walled poly pipe about 17mm diameter, but when you look closely you’ll see that there is a very small aperture every 30cm along the tube; this is where the water comes out of. Each hole has some serious technology behind it; each drip emitter is flow-regulated, meaning that regardless of the pressure inside the tube, only the designated flow rate can pass through the internal drip mechanism and irrigate your garden. This is great for ensuring that the same amount of water is applied out of every drip-outlet, along every strip of dripline, throughout the entire area of your garden.
In a standard garden we suggest you install lines of drip tube about 40cm apart (you can stretch this to 50cm if the plants are big and can grow their roots to find the wet patches). So if your garden is say 7 metres wide, you’ll install a line of drip tube every 40cm, so you’ll have about 17 lines of drip tube, each 40cm apart. This will create a great irrigated area throughout your garden. Your plants will grow their roots accordingly, with their drinking-roots populating the wet areas. Best of all, you won’t be wasting any water and the foliage won’t get wet, which will reduce your prevalence of foliar fungal diseases.
